Here's the second attempt at a pattern from Dolly Bureau. It's a sweater, heavily modified from a pattern for Integrity Toys' Misaki. Here's the official Dolly Bureau version.
I traced the pattern without seam allowance, taped it on her body, and marked where it was too big around the waist. I cut those bits off, then cut the pieces from the sweater fabric (actually my friend's old gloves).
You may have noticed the problem with the preceding steps.
I forgot to add the seam allowance back in. And there wasn't enough glove to cut out another set of pattern pieces, so I was stuck with them. I "solved" this by running white glue around all edges (in lieu of Fray Check), then sewing everything together with minimal seam allowances. Fortunately, the sweater was going to be oversized, and the knit fabric is stretchy, so it still fits Eun-jae all right.
Needless to say, any problems with this pattern are entirely my fault. I'm sure the original Dolly Bureau pattern was fine.

These aren't actually shorts, they're fingers of one of the gloves. Sort of like leg warmers, but for further up the legs. Not for wearing in public! Why are all of Eun-jae's clothes blue? | Not bad... although none of the various blues and greens on this page really match. And perhaps Eun-jae would have been better off with a waist-length sweater rather than one that goes past the hips. |
This was the point in the photo-shoot that I noticed the lower edge of the sweater was pulling apart. I couldn't hem it the usual way, since the knit fabric is so thick at the 1/6 scale. Instead, I whipped along the bottom. Conveniently, the only embroidery thread I have with me is blue (used for the ties on the wrap pants), so I used three strands of that. Scroll all the way up to the first photo for the final look.
It's... slightly wobbly whip stitch.
I figure the neckline and sleeves will start pulling apart eventually, but I haven't whipped those yet.
Confession: the whole sweater is held together by pins in the back. I forgot my miniature buttons and can't get to them for a while. :'(

Sudden change of topic:
Turns out that putting Katniss in clothes she'd hate (and that don't fit her at all) is hilarious. The belt is actually the collar off a chocolate reindeer.
