I'm back! Graduated college and moved far far away, with only two suitcases and a backpack to call my own. The Journey Girl you see on the left is now my only doll. I chose a Journey Girl because they're a bit slimmer than American Girls (can use more layers in their clothing) and the plastic in their torso means that they can wear lower necklines--and she still has a squishy waist you can stick pins in! Her mouth kind of freaks me out though. The lips are cute, but too detailed compared to the rest of the face. |
The picture above is of four fabrics, three of which are going to go into a dress for As-Yet-Unnamed-Journey-Girl. Haven't decided between the blue and the red for the top. To the right is my design for the dress. Purple skirts, because I have a lot of purple (it's actually my fitted sheet, but it has no elastic and keeps falling off so I'm going to get a new one). Colorful overskirt, because I have more of that than of blue or red. Blue/red top, with a ruffle of something. No sleeves, because I don't like gathering things and if I try to make myself gather I may stop halfway, leave a mess, and annoy my roommate. The overskirt thingy is based on Simplicity's "steampunk" pattern. (I used that pattern in my old life but never took a picture of the results.) |
Not 100% sure on the top. The doll's shoulders may not take to sleeveless tops very well. We'll see.
