This is Ash, crocheted using the excellent Free Spirit Amigurumi pattern here. Her face is embroidered except for her eyes, which are from Suncatcher Craft Eyes.
She's wearing a tight shirt (sewn on to her, I think), loose (poorly) pleated trousers, and armor (gray polymer clay painted white). The armor is tied on through small holes drilled into the ends.
You'll notice she looks very unfinished (and bald). I never really liked the trousers, and after someone broke off a piece of the armor (note the missing pointy bit on the left) I stopped working on her. Maybe someday I'll redo her trousers (they're too long, for one), make new armor out of something sturdier (recommendations?) and give her a jacket and wig. Not today.

Ash's face here is a good example of why I don't do much embroidery. Crochet is just so textured; it's hard to get the embroidery to show up more than the crochet stitches. Oh dear, the back of the armor has been stained. The tiny holes on the top are where the pauldrons would have been attached. The only part of the doll I like is the shirt. The rest falls under "failure". |
